William Balfour, the primary "person of interest" in the Hudson slayings, should have been in jail the day of the Hudson shootings.

He was caught a few months before that with a rock of cocaine on the driver's seat of his car worth $100, and should have been arrested for parole violation.

He wasn't.

Instead, he was given a pass by a cop that probably wishes he has arrested Balfour. Now, this felon who already had enough strikes is the main suspect in the deaths of Jennifer Hudson's beloved family.

Records show that on the day of the killings, Balfour told his parole officer he was baby-sitting which was why he missed a mandatory meeting. Later that night, the bodies were found and an Amber alert was issued for Julian King. Police contacted his parole officers requesting Balfour's visitor lists, phone numbers and emergency addresses.

By Saturday, a warrant was issued on Balfour for violating his parole terms for possessing a weapon and failing to attend anger management counseling and his substance abuse program.

In recent news...

Yesterday, 100 police officers were dispatched to the area where Julian's body was discovered and a gun was found approximately a block away from the abandoned parking lot.

Police are investigating the weapon, but believe the it was the weapon used in all three of the killings.

William Balfour Arrested for Double Homicide of Hudson Family

William Balfour, estranged husband of Jennifer's sister Julia, and stepfather of her son Julian, was arrested for the double murder of the singer's mother and brother, and for kidnapping her nephew.

The 5 foot 5 inch, 147 pound Balfour was out on parole and staying with the Hudson family. In 1999, he was sentenced to seven years in prison but was paroled in 2006. That parole was supposed to end in May of 2009 - just seven months from now. He has served time at the Illinois River Correctional Center for attempted murder, carjacking and stolen-property charges.

Balfour was arrested approximately two hours ago, but there was no sign of Julian. The Amber Alert declares 7-year-old Julian is wearing a brown, striped polo shirt and khaki pants. He is 4 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 130 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair.

Neighbors reported gunshot noises from the home around 8 or 9 a.m. Friday, but no one called police until Jennifer's sister Julia found her family slain around 3:00 pm.

Previous reports say a cousin found the family.

Jennifer Hudson's Mom & Brother Murdered

Chicago police are investigating the murders of singer Jennifer Hudson's mother, 57-year-old Darnell Donerson, and 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson.

The pair were shot and killed in a South Side Chicago home listed under both the singer and her mother's names. Police report Darnell was shot in the head, while brother Jason was shot in the chest. At least one of the two had defensive wounds. Police say the crime may have been the result of domestic abuse.

The Chicago Tribune reports the Academy Award winning, former American Idol star's Jennifer's nephew, 7-year-old Julian King, is currently missing, as is a '94 Chevy Suburban with Illinois license plate: X584859. The car is registered to Jason Hudson and if you see it, call the police as Julian may have been kidnapped. An Amber Alert has been issued in the state of Chicago.

The bodies were found approximately 3 o'clock this afternoon by a cousin who lives nearby. No suspects nor motives have been announced.

This is a terrible tragedy for the singer/actress who has stated she is very close with her family - including her mother Darnell, sister Julia and brother Jason. Jennifer's father, Samuel Simpson,
passed away in '99 when she was a teen.

What a total travesty.
