It's necessary to remember that Agadir is a big city in Africa. The air humidity is high.
Considerable population - therefore multitude of interesting, Moroccan characters.
This is not a resort in West definition.
Yet European can't feel like stranger here.
A little higher civilization standards than in Egypt, Tunisia.
Obvious French influences,
dynamic colouring of developing country - building at every step.

The casbah on top of the hill dominating Agadir,
with daring view over the city.
Picturesque, Atlantic coast north of Agadir - along the way to Essaouira.

Swimming in ocean waves. Exotic shopping. Trade negotiations with natives.

Music - mix of Arabic, Berber, African rhythms,
predominatingly in ecstatic, trancing tempos.

You can travel cheaply and comfortably around the town by taxi,
you can go to Essaouira in rental car
or to Marrakech - in a bus
with cheerful gang of international tourists.

Food - subtle and ingenious. A melange of sophisticated tastes.
You can compare your dinner to exotic book reading. But be careful -
organism accelerates, it's worth having medical carbon.

People's country, thus law guardians are very visible and treated with respect.
You can see police and military policemen patrols - foot, on quads and mounted - on Agadir beach.
They apply themselves.

The weather can be capricious owing to location between ocean and Atlas mountains.
Mornings may be cloudy sometimes, but later - steelworks.

Possible crowded weekend on beach, because Agadirians arrive here in large numbers.
Generally - you can buck on the sand, run kilometers and wave on white horses...

The hotel situated pretty, good views from windows,
and yet service now and then somewhat stuffy
(elements of postcolonial snobbery).
A lack of driveways for suitcases - it's necessary to lug.
There is one porter.

Essaouira and Marrakech.

The first is a sunny town situated 200 km north of Agadir.
Winding streets of the medina resemble Mediterranean small towns system.
Exotic street pedlars, reggae lovers, hashish smokers,
vendors and Western tourists go round here.
Surfers dominating beaches, because local sea breeze is able to supply wind power stations successfully.
The atmosphere of knight's and pirate history blends with tempting scent of fish barbecue.

However Marrakech tempts with old shopping district,
where you should drop in Herbothèque necessarily
and buy for pennies effects of Arab medical and herbal thought,
melt into the crowd of pedlars and vendors,
watch commodities from depth of Africa,
and visit elaborately decorated shop interiors.
It's worth trying Berber menu in restaurant at edge of Djemaa el Fna Square
and breathing air - hot from history literally - in the Dar Menebhi Palace.
You can also listen to hypnotic Daoudi's music
in a cake shop neighbouring on music store...

Successful stay, I didn't want to leave...
Warm ocean with graphite stones on the bottom,
spectacular, volcanic rocks,
twisting roads, extensive views, European standards.

Frequent association with tropical Southeast Asia or the Caribbean.
Floating in the air in the clouds (literally) on high passes and summits.

Mysterious Encumeada pass shrouded in clouds, picturesque town of Ribeira Brava,
lofty cliff Cabo Girão, evening view of Funchal from headland Ponta do Garajau,
cable car Funchal-Monte, east, grassy edge of the island...

Caniçal - former whaling port,
wicker toboggan breakneck rally from Monte to Funchal!
Câmara de Lobos -
place of artistic scribble of Churchill...

Northern, filed towns: Seixal and Porto Moniz;
amazing plateau of Paul da Serra with cows grazing in the clouds -
poetry!

Motorway rallies, car climbing on complex routes,
daredevil bus rides, cable railway drives,
sensational diving in unfamiliar and powerful element...
