Goat

"I just love music, I cant explain it," enthuses the New York City-based singer-songwriter. "All I do is play piano or guitar and write songs. I love it. And I thank my stars that Im able to do this."

Goat relocated to New York City from Cleveland to actualize his musical ambitions. He quickly picked up a gig at the famed Power Station recording studio, which led to playing on a Nils Lofgren song Oh Baltimore. He began his performing career in earnest, joining local rockabilly revivalist Will Rambeaus band, pausing only to become the aide-de-camp to Otis Blackwell, writer of Great Balls of Fire and Dont Be Cruel.

After signing a deal with Interscope, Goat released his critically-acclaimed debut album "Great Life" (Ruffhouse/Columbia) in 1998 and, with little support from the label, he scored a hit with the title track. Several songs were placed in high profile movies like "I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Supercop," a national Kia commercial, and TV shows, including "CSI" and others on MTV, ESPN, UPN, and TNT.

In 2005, Rosen released his second Goat CD "All of My Friends," through Judgment Records/WEA featuring the talents of friends Chris Whitley, T-Bone Wolk, and Larry Campell. The album received a warm reception with multiple tracks getting significant radio play and the title track charting as high as number five on XM Satellite Radio's alternative rock station XM Cafe. Goats new album "Twisted Heart" will be released August 22nd on Engine Room Recordings and distributed nationally by Select-O-Hits.

With a rock solid new album under his belt, Goat is currently getting ready to hit the touring circuit, an exhilarating task that will no doubt involve spending a few minutes each night explaining that nickname of his.

I was a kid and went into the corral to pet a goat, he laughs. In the middle of the corral was a big pile of shit. I thought the goat was tied up but when I got in there that goat knocked me on my ass half a dozen times before I could crawl out of there. The name just stuck. Everybody calls me that now, even my dad.

Fall is in the Air!!!

Hello Friends!

It's definitely Fall out here in NYC. Road manager Kevin & I have been fortunate enough to drive up North not once but TWICE this past week for shows and have seen some of the most beautiful colors on trees that exist on the planet! A nice chill in the air makes arriving at a nice warm club all the more appealing. Sometimes I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I do...

We went back up to Burlington, VT to play Higher Ground, which is one of the greatest places I have ever played. We got there in time to do a soundcheck, have a delicious meal and we got to hang out with Kevin from Higher Ground as well. TWO Kevins!!! Special thanks to The Point (WNCS) for the shout out on our way home. I am honored to be among the great artists you play!!! And look out you snow bunnies...rumor has it I will be back very soon. I can't wait!!!

Then I got to go back & visit my friends out at WDST for the Gattine & Franz morning show. The guys at this station are ALWAYS so nice to me...and always have the most delicious spread of food for me when I come. If every artist gets the same royal treatment I did...it's no wonder they have the respect that they do!!! Again, it's really a blessing to be included on the airwaves with the other artists they play. Thanks guys!!!

From there we drove out to New Haven, CT to play at a place called Bar Night Club, which had FANTASTIC pizza and everyone there was SO kind to this little Goat! Makes me want to move out there to finish up my education...

This past weekend I got to do a hometown show at Underscore in NYC's Upper East Side. Special thanks to everyone who came out, to Amy for having me...and to my cheering section at the bar. And a MAJOR ROCK to Tom and Carol, Helena, my wife Ana, manager Liz, her husband Daniel (The Invisible Kid) and Chris Hacker from the label. It's always amazing to look out and find friendly faces!!! Much love!

This week I will be playing Triumph Brewery in Princeton, NJ and I will be recording a live session for WFUV here in NYC to help promote the BIG NYC show at Makor on Tuesday, November 28. Can't wait to see everyone there and HUGE THANKS to John Platt of WFUV for inviting me. I'm also now charting at AAA radio...this week at #51!!! Very exciting times for this Goat!

Until next time, much love!!!

-G
