SmartGuy Records is pleased to announce our first release in nearly 18 months! smart 025 is a 3-song 7" by English artist Martin Creed and the record is a co-release with The Sound of White Columns (NYC’s White Columns Gallery). Think Pink Flag-era Wire though less dour and with a healthy dose of whimsy. The tracks were recorded by David Cunningham (Flying Lizards) and come on white vinyl in an edition of 600. The official launch took place Tuesday, March 25 at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in NYC with more than 100 copies of the records being sold.

The record is $10.00 postage paid in the US / $11.00 in Canada and Mexico / $13.00 everywhere else. Act fast as the first 20 copies to go are signed by the artist (limit one per). Go here to purchase...

Martin Creed

Martin Creed is an English artist known mostly for his visual works be they neon, A4 paper, plywood, or rooms half-filled with Dark Blue 16-inch Balloons Dimensions variable . In 2001 he won Britain’s Turner Prize which was presented to him by Madonna. It’s fair to say that Martin’s work often questions the value of objects and ideas ordinarily thought of as mundane. With modest intent, he often takes a subversive and minimalist approach (along with buckets-full of wit) with regard to his installations, films, writings and performances.
