Forgive the Unforgivable

How to Forgive
from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

I read this article and thought it worth sharing...
How many of us haven't had issues with a past (or present) enemy? I have and speaking for myself, forgiveness was the last thought that came into mind. Hopefully this article will give some helpful advise to people, such as myself can use.

One of the hardest, thorniest and most difficult things we humans are ever called upon to do is to respond to evil with kindness, and to forgive the unforgivable. We love to read stories about people who've responded to hatred with love, but when that very thing is demanded of us personally, our default seems to be anger, angst, depression, righteousness, hatred, etc. Yet study after study shows that one of the keys to longevity and good health is to develop a habit of gratitude and let go of past hurts. Want to live a long, happy life? Forgive the unforgivable. It really is the kindest thing you can do for yourself. Your enemy may not deserve to be forgiven for all the pain and sadness and suffering they've purposefully inflicted on your life, but you deserve to be free of this evil. As Ann Landers often said, "hate is like an acid. It destroys the vessel in which it is stored."
 Steps
Realize that the hate you feel toward your enemy does not harm them in the slightest. Chances are, they've gone on with their life and haven't given you another thought.
Make a list of the good things that happened as a result of this awful experience. You've probably focused long enough on the bad parts of this experience. Look at the problem from a wholly new angle; look at the good side. The first item on that list may be a long time coming because you've focused on the bad for so long, but don't give up. Force yourself to find 10 good things that happened specifically because of this experience.
Look for the helpers. Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers) related that, as a little boy, he'd often become upset about major catastrophes in the news. His mother would tell him, "look for the helpers." In your own nightmarish experience, think back to the people who helped you. Think about their kindness and unselfishness.
Look at the bigger picture. Was someone your "good samaritan"? In this biblical story, a traveler happens upon a poor soul who was beat up on the road to Jericho and left for dead. It's a lot easier to play the part of the Good Samaritan than to be the poor soul who is left bleeding and bruised on the side of the road. Perhaps this isn't all about you. Perhaps your trial provided an opportunity for others to rise to an occasion to provide you with help and support.
Be compassionate with yourself. If you've ruminated over this problem for a long time, steering this boat into a new direction could take some time, too. As you try to make a new path out of the dark woods of this old hurt, you'll make mistakes. Forgive yourself. Be patient and kind to yourself. Extreme emotional pain has a profound effect on the body. Give yourself time to heal - physically and emotionally. Eat well. Rest. Focus on the natural beauty in the world.
Learn that the Aramaic word for "forgive" means literally to "untie." The fastest way to free yourself from an enemy and all their negativity is to forgive. Lose yourself from them and their ugliness. Your hatred has tied you to them. Your forgiveness enables you to start walking away from them and the pain.
Forgiveness must be unconditional. Therefore, it cannot be dependent upon the repentance of those who have harmed us. However, forgiveness of this type must be applied with wisdom and discernment. Unless those who have harmed us have truly repented of whatever they have done, we need to use wisdom in avoiding repeating the hurt. This may require avoiding those who are unrepentant of the harm that they have inflicted upon us.
Stop telling "the story." How many times this week did you tell "the story" about how badly you were hurt and how horribly you were wronged? How many times a day do you think about this hurt? It is a stake driven into the ground that keeps you from moving away from this hurt. Rather, forgive your enemy because it's the kindest thing you can do for your friends and family. Negativity is depressing, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
Tell "the story" from the other person's perspective. Actually imagine that you are the other person (the one who offended you) and use the word "I" when saying what they would say. You, most likely, don't know exactly what the other person was thinking when this event unfolded but pretend that you do and just go with the story that comes up in your head. Sit down with a friend, or maybe even the person you are trying to forgive, and tell the story as though you are that person. It is important to do this verbally and not just in your head. Realize in advance that this is not an easy exercise but it holds great power. Just your willingness to tell the story from the offenders perspective requires a bit of forgiveness. Also, realize that this is not a contradiction to the preceding paragraph since this perspective will change your story.
Retrain your thinking. When your enemy and their evil actions come to mind, send them a blessing. Wish them well. Hope the best for them. This has two effects. One, it neutralizes that acid of hate that destroys the vessel in which it is stored. The evil we wish for another seems to have a rebound effect. The same is true for the good that we wish for another. When you become able to return blessing for hatred, you'll know that you're well on the path to wholeness. The first 15 or 150 times you try this, the "blessing" may feel contrived, empty, and even hypocritical but keep trying. Eventually, it will become a new habit and soon thereafter, the anger and pain that has burned in your heart will evaporate, like dew before the morning sun. This technique forces your mind to overcome the cognitive dissonance between hating someone and doing something nice for them. Since there is no way to take back the kind gesture to agree with your hatred, the only thing your mind can do is change your belief about the person to match the gesture and you will begin to feel they were deserving of the gesture.
Remember: you're not the Lone Ranger On hearing my story of woe, one wise preacher said, "I worship a God with holes in his hands and feet." Considering Jesus in the Bible - he unconditionally forgave those who did terrible things to him. And if you are wronged for doing right, then you're experiencing what it is written that Jesus did, and that's a good example to follow.
Maintain perspective: While the "evil" actions of your "enemy" are hurtful to you and your immediate surroundings, the rest of the world goes on unaware. Validate their meaning in your life, but never lose perspective that others are not involved and do not deserve anything to be taken out on them. Your enemy is someone else's beloved son, someone's employee, or a child's parent.

 Tips
Put your best mental energies (perhaps first thing in the morning) into visualizing the new life you want. See yourself - in the future - as free of this pain and suffering.
Keep the following quotes in mind if you're finding it hard to generate positive feelings for the person:
"Those who are the hardest to love, need it the most."
Max Ehrmann - "As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons."

Sometimes it helps to think of how others have forgiven under incredible circumstances. Ask friends for support and examples to motivate you toward forgiveness.

Article provided by wikiHow, a collaborative writing project to build the world's largest, highest quality how-to manual.
Sisters

This was sent to me via email and I would like to share it with all, not just "sisters" but also with "brothers". We should feel blessed when included within a sisterhood or brotherhood, for we are then never alone...

SISTERS

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced lemonade and visiting with her Mother.

As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

"Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling the lemon pieces around in of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need, Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.

"Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too.

"You'll need other women. Women always do."

'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about.

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end.

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach. When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.

Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you. Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!

The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I.

When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.

Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Every day, we need each other still.

In Memory of my Mother

This is also a Tribute to all Hospice Caregivers, whether they be certified, licensed or a family member they are all very special people.

Our mother passed away February 19th, 2005. She died from cancer and per her wishes she passed away at home. My sister (God bless her, I don't know what I would have done without her) and I (with our brother's help) took care of mom. And at the same time taking care of dad who had several strokes and heart attacks. Dad also had Prostate Cancer. What an experience that was, we had the quickest crash course in caregiving for cancer patients that I never knew existed! During the last 3 months of mom's illness, we learned about and did many things we never ever thought we'd do... Because of our mother's wishes to die at home we did what we had to do with compassion, respect and with a ton of love. Mom was diagnosed with colon cancer in March of 2004; it wasn't until around Christmas of 2004 that she registered with Hospice. For those not familiar with Hospice, Hospice is an organization that supports the caregivers of the terminally ill. The caregiver is usually a family member or partner of the patient. After being diagnosed as terminal the patient has several options to consider for their end of life care. If the patient prefers to die in their own home, (although this choice may not always be possible) they can register with Hospice. A licensed Hospice nurse comes to the home and makes an evaluation of the patients needs. Also the caregivers are given support from the Hospice nurses. Having the loved one at home surrounded with things familiar helps with their comfort zone. Especially when the dosage of their medication increases (almost on a daily basis) for the pain, and tends to make their memory a bit fuzzy. Thank God for our 'guardian angel' from Hospice, we would have been absolutely lost without her guidance and support. Sister Elaine will remain in our thoughts and in our hearts forever. She was so sensitive to our needs and was so sincere with her concern for not only our mother but for the entire family. We can't thank her enough for everything she did for us, we will remember her always. Anyone who has had the heartache of needing the assistance of Hospice can certainly relate to our circumstance. It is a very, very demanding job taking care of someone you love that is terminally ill. It is emotionally distressing, watching your loved one's life diminish right before your eyes. Whether the loved one be your parent, your child, spouse, sibling, or friend it just breaks one's heart to watch them suffer. Mom was a very brave woman right to the end. She had pride in herself and true to her word. Mom made a promise to dad; her promise was that she would not take the journey to Heaven's Gate before their 56th wedding anniversary. Their anniversary was Friday February 18th, mom went on her journey 3:00 o'clock Saturday morning February 19th - she kept her promise to dad. I miss her so much; no matter how old one gets we always remain our parent’s children. I know as time passes my tears will dry and my heartache will eventually heal, but my memories of my times with mom will always be as if they were yesterday. One day it will be my turn to travel the path to Heaven's Gate and mom will be there waiting to greet me with a big smile and tight hug, and by her side will be Dad. Shortly after Mom passed away Dad registered with Hospice. Dad went on his journey to be with Mom on June 30th, 2005.

Through the Eyes of a Baby Boomer

Black and White
(Under age 40? You won't understand.)

You could hardly see for all the snow,
Spread the rabbit ears as far as they go.
Pull a chair up to the TV set,
"Good Night, David. Good Night, Chet."

My Mom used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread mayo on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning.

My Mom used to defrost hamburger on the counter AND I used to eat it raw sometimes, too. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in icepack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli

Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then.

The term cell phone would have conjured up a phone in a jail cell, and a pager was the school PA system.

We all took gym, not PE.. and risked permanent injury with a pair of high top Ked's (only worn in gym) instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now.

Flunking gym was not an option... even for stupid kids! I guess PE must be much harder than gym.

Speaking of school, we all said prayers and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention.

We must have had horribly damaged psyches. What an archaic health system we had then. Remember school nurses? Ours wore a hat and everything.

I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself.

I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations.

Oh yeah... and where was the Benadryl and sterilization kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed!

We played 'king of the hill' on piles of gravel left on vacant construction sites, and when we got hurt, Mom pulled out the 48-cent bottle of Mercurochrome (kids liked it better because it didn't sting like iodine did) and then we got our butt spanked.

Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10-day dose of a $49 bottle of antibiotics, and then Mom calls the attorney to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat.

We didn't act up at the neighbor's house either because if we did, we got our butt spanked there and then we got butt spanked again when we got home.

I recall Donny Reynolds from next door coming over and doing his tricks on the front stoop, just before he fell off. Little did his Mom know that she could have owned our house. Instead, she picked him up and swatted him for being such a goof. It was a neighborhood run amuck.

To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that?

We needed to get into group therapy and anger management classes? We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive?

LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA, AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T- SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING

What's in Your Prayers?

Does one consider their prayers prior to praying? Are you praying for the right reason? What about Daily Devotionals? Have they been memorized and repeated so often, and have become so repetitive, that the true meaning has been lost over time? How many times have you said a prayer for your God? Or a prayer sending Blessings of Love to your God or Goddess? I do often, but ashamedly, not as often as I should. The following is a Beautiful Prayer, after reading it I am hoping it will give some Mindful Insight to the true meaning of prayer...

The Bishop was buried the next day.

MORAL OF THE STORY???

Being concerned about public opinion can bring you
much grief and misery and even shorten your life.
So, be yourself and enjoy life.

Stop worrying about everyone else's ass and you'll live longer!

Don't Worry - Be Happy!

Part IV - The Neutral Dragon

Part 4 -
Types and Habitat
The Neutral Dragon

The Western type of dragon has been variously described, and individual dragons had their own unique forms. They appeared to be created from parts of various creatures, with the result that in general, they were described as having eagle's feet and wings, lion's forelimbs and head, fish's scales, antelope's horns and a serpentine form of trunk and tail, which occasionally extended to the head. We have learned of the traits and habitats of the Good Dragons and the Evil Dragons, now we shall learn of the traits and habitat of the Neutral Dragons.

Sapphire Dragons - The Sapphire dragons control the subterranean domains. While most of the territory above the realms belongs to the Emerald dragons, they keep a small portion of the surface area as their own as well as the extensive caverns beneath the tropical jungles. Of all dragonkind, perhaps the Sapphire dragon are the most militaristic. They protect their territory from outsiders, going as far as to distrust everyone who even comes close to their borders. Giant spiders make up most of the Sapphire dragons diet. While militaristic and warlike in nature, they are not quick to attack. They like to observe the intruder so they can formulate the best way to deal with them. The breath weapon for the Sapphire dragon is a cone of high pitched, almost inaudible sound.

Emerald Dragons - Emerald dragons live among the tropical southern waters. They are a curious species, taken to keeping track of history, lore and customs. They tend to be very reclusive. Emerald dragons love privacy so far as to determine where the dragons lords and their spawn establish their lairs. Emerald dragons build their domains around inactive volcano ranges. Emerald dragons are not finicky eaters. They do prefer lizards and giants, but they will eat anything in a pinch. Emerald dragons get along best with Sapphire dragons and they fear the red dragon because of their greed. The breath weapon of an Emerald dragon is a loud wail that sends sonic vibrations through the enemy.

Topaz Dragons - These dragons inhabit the temperate coastal regions, building their lairs below the water line, constructing them to remain very dry. They do not like the water, but will swim to hunt, attack or to reach their lairs, but not for enjoyment. They love to eat fish and other seafood. Their favorite is the giant squid. While not malicious, these dragons are not the best of company nor to deal with. They display erratic behavior which is confusing and unsettling. Unless it specifically interests or affects them, Topaz dragons tend to be indifferent to the causes and concerns that occupy the rest of the dragonkind. It takes time to develop a friendship with these dragons...but once formed, it's a lifetime friendship. The breath weapon of the Topaz dragon is a cone of dehydration.

Crystal Dragons - These friendly dragons of the north spend much time learning about the world around them. While solitary in nature, they welcome visitors who come by to them with good intentions. These dragons establish their domains in the cold northern reaches, building their castles out of snow and ice. The White Dragons consider the Crystal Dragons as prey, so the two clans are constantly in conflict. Like other benevolent dragons, the Crystal dragons would rather talk than fight. Metal ores and gems are the preferred food of these dragons. The breath weapon of the Crystal dragon is a cone of glowing shards.

Amethyst Dragons - The most powerful of the neutral dragons. They are honorable and regal dragons. They inhabit northern mountains, living on the shores of isolated lakes and pools. They approach life with a detached air, ignoring the conflicts of good and evil. They see these conflicts as petty squabbles over inconsequential points of view. While Amethyst dragons consider their Silver and Copper cousins to be foolish and have an active dislike of red and white dragons, they don't consider any life form to be their inherent enemies. Amethyst dragons eat large quantities of fish and gems. Most keep at least one hidden underwater cave for seclusion and secrecy. The breath weapon of the Amethyst dragon is a faceted, violet lozenge, spit at 75 feet, explodes with concussion force damaging creatures near the explosion.

Coming Soon:

Part V -
All Creatures are cute when they are babies, even Dragons.
From Hatchling to a Dragons first flight, growing up Dragon.

Dragon History - Part 3: Evil Dragons

Part - 3
The Evil Dragon Traits

Alas, my journey into the Evil Dragons' Territory has finally ended, and I have once more emerged unscathed! I have also emerged with the information that was promised to you regarding the traits of all Evil Dragons...I beg of you to please note that once again all information that was attained has been passed down from generation to generation. The accuracy of such information cannot be acclaimed as 100% true. Although in my mind and imagination I perceive as close to the truth as it can get.

Black Dragons - The black dragon is typically found in marshes and swamps, although they may be found in subterranean lairs, for they always seek to lair in deep dark caves. The dragon is 30 feet long and has average intelligence. The breath weapon of the dragon is the spitting of acid.

Green Dragons - The race of green dragons prefer to locate their underground lairs in or near woods or forests of the bleaker, wilder sorts if possible. They are very nasty tempered and thoroughly evil. They have average intelligence and are 36 feet in length. The breath weapon of the green dragon is a cloud of poisonous chlorine gas.

Red Dragons - The red dragon is usually found dwelling in great hills or mountainous regions. They make their caves in subterranean caves and similar places. They are very greedy and avaricious. Of all the evil dragons, this sort is the worst. They are 48 feet in length and possess exceptional intelligence. The breath weapon of the red dragon is a cone of fire.

White Dragons - White dragons favor chilly or cold regions to dwell. They lair in icy caves or deep subterranean places. Although not as intelligent as other dragons, they are as evil and greedy as any. They have low to average intelligence and are only 24 feet in length. The breath weapon of the white dragon is a cone of frost.

Chromatic Dragons; known also as Tiamat. -Tiamat rules the first plane of the Nine Hells where she spawns all of evil dragonkind. She hates all good as fiercely as she loves cruelty and hoards wealth. She is seldom outside her lair, but occasionally she comes to earth to place a new dragon or to seek more treasure. She can travel astrally or ethereally. Although her sheer size prevents claw attacks, Tiamat can bite with all five of her heads and sting with her tail at the same time, breath with one or more of these heads or cast spells with one or more heads at the same time. Tiamats heads are white, black, green, blue and red. Her breath weapons correspond to the color of each head. Each head of Tiamat can regenerate. The regeneration takes a full day. When encountered in her lair, Tiamat will always have five consorts/guards with her - one huge adult ancient male dragon of the white, black, green, blue and red dragons. She is a genius in intelligence level and she is 60 feet long.

Coming Soon:

Part 4 -
Dragon Types and Habitat
The Neutral Dragon

History of the Dragon - Part 2 Types and Habitat

Part 2 - Types and Habitat
The Good Dragon Traits

We have all heard of the vicious red dragon spewing flames everywhere. We recognize this as an evil dragon. Well, there are also good dragons! Dragon types fall into three categories: Good Dragons, Evil Dragons and Neutral Dragons. The following classifications will describe the Dragons Color, Personality and Breath Weapons, and also where you might find them!

We shall start with the Good Dragon Traits:

Good Dragons~

Brass Dragons - Sandy desert regions are the typical habitat of the highly intelligent brass dragons. They are quite forward and officious and they love to talk. They are rather selfish. These dragons are large in size, up to 30 feet in length. The breath weapon of these dragons is either a cone of sleeping gas, or a billowing cloud of gas that causes fear.

Bronze Dragons - Dwell in subterranean lairs near substantial bodies of water such as lakes and oceans. Despite their love of wealth, they are basically of beneficient nature. They often assume the form of some animal in order to observe the affairs of humans. The bronze dragon are larger than the Brass dragons, they reach up to 42 feet in length. There are two breath weapons the dragons employ. They either use a bolt of lightning or a gas of repulsion.

Copper Dragons - They prefer to inhabit arid rocky regions, liking warmer climate in which to locate their lair. These highly intelligent dragons tend to be rather selfish. The average length of a copper dragon is 36 feet long and may use 2 different breath weapons. The first one is a cone of acid or they can use a cloud of gas that causes lethargy.

Gold Dragons - They are able to dwell in any climate but their lairs are always of solid stone - whether a cave or a castle. Although they love precious metals and gems and use jewels and pearls as nourishment, all gold dragons are lawful, just and good. They are able to assume the form of animals or the guise of humanity, for they can polymorph themselves without harm. It is in this form that they are typically encountered. They are 54 feet long and their intelligence level would be considered as genius. The breath weapon of the gold dragons is either a cone of fire, or a cone of chlorine gas.

Silver Dragons - These dragons select mountain peaks, clouds and similar locales in which to establish their bode. It is claimed that this dragon can be found in the home of the King of Good Dragons as well as behind other winds as well. Like gold dragons, these creatures are able to polymorph themselves in order to appear as an animal or human. They are 48 feet in length and are considered to have exceptional intelligence. The breath weapon of silver dragons is either a cone of frost, or a cloud of paralyzing gas.

Platinum Dragons also known as Bahamut. The King of Good dragons. - Bahamut the platinum dragon dwells in a great fortified palace behind the east wind. About one quarter of the time he roams the earth in the guise of human or nearly any other form he chooses for Bahamut is able to shape change freely. He can travel astrally or ethereally. He is the longest in length of all the good dragons measuring 72 feet long and is considered to be supra genius in intelligence. There are seven huge ancient gold dragons of highest abilities and loyalty who serve as guards, companions, and advisers to Bahamut. He seldom is without them. He has 3 forms of breath weapons to choose from, a cone of cold, a cloud of vapor which causes persons to lose their substance and assume a gaseous form or a sonic vibration which will cause disintegration.

A Note from your Dragon Historian~
I have been doing a ton of research regarding Dragons, their beginnings, their habitat, their culture and their demise. What I write is a combination of the research written by other Dragon Historians. Who in turn combined their writings from research found from previous Dragon Historians. I have been unable to contact a living Weyrling or Dragonmaster to get their story of what is was like living in the Day of the Dragons. So, what I have written has been passed down throughout the centuries and may have been glorified or enchantasized a bit. Although in my mind's eye I can clearly visualize the Great Sky Masters with all their beauty and glory reigning as Kings and Queens of the Sky. What a sight to see...

Peace Be With You.
Mistress of All Dragons on Dragonsheart

Coming Soon...
Part - 3
The Evil Dragon Traits

The History of Dragons

History of the Dragon

Among the oldest of mythological creatures, dragons appear in the traditions of virtually all peoples back to the beginning of time. Because of this widespread adoption, the dragon appears in numerous forms, and local traditions have been created around many of them, crediting this tribe of monsters with many attributes.

The dragon's form arose from his particular power of control over the waters of the earth and gave rise to many of the attributes singled out by different peoples as the whole myth developed. They were believed to live at the bottom of the sea, where they guarded vast treasure hoards, very frequently of pearls. Rain clouds and thunder and lightning were believed to be the dragon's breath, hence the fire-breathing monster.

The dragon fears nothing except the elephant with whom he will engage in battle, entwining himself around the elephant and inflicting fatal blows. However, as the elephant finally collapses, his fall crushes the dragon to death.

The dragon is the enemy of the sun and the moon, both in Eastern and Western mythology, and is believed to be responsible for eclipses. These occur when the dragon is attempting to swallow either of the heavenly bodies; which accounts for the dragon's appearance in primitive astronomy. Because the dragon was the natural enemy of man, his death became the ultimate goal, consequently there are innumberable battles between gods and dragons, saints and dragons, and in the medieval world, knights and dragons.

Part - 1

Description of Dragons from around the world...

The Heraldic Dragon - The most widespread and formidable of it's kind. It had massive fangs, four clawed legs and a ridge of sharp spines that stretched from it's spiked nose to its barbed and stinging tail.

The Amphitptere - A legless, winged serpent, it could be found along the banks of the Nile and in Arabia. It guarded frankincense-bearing trees and threatened all who would harvest the precious resin.

The Guivre - The legless and wingless guivre would have seemed a mere serpent albeit an immensely powerful one, except for its massive dragon head, horned and bearded. It likes to live in forests and wells - anywhere near water.

The Wyvern - Feared for its viciousness and for the pestilence it brought to northern Europe, Greece and Ethiopia, the wyvern had a coiling trunk that bore a pair of eagle's legs, which were tucked beneath it's wings.

The Lindworm - Falling between the birdlike wyvern and the snakelike guivre, the lindworm had a serpentine body with one pair of legs. It was flightless. The Italian traveler Marco Polo reported
seeing some lindworms while crossing the steppes of Central Asia.
