NewsFire + Inquisitor

David Watanabe, author of the fantastic NewsFire RSS reader, is offering a special this weekend (8/19 - 8/20): buy NewsFire and get Inquisitor free!

NewsFire is a gorgeous RSS reader and one of the only shareware apps I've bought for my Mac. It makes sifting through the daily news a joy instead of a chore. It has single-handedly changed the way I get my information and I highly recommend it. (On a related note, when I first installed Apple's Leopard Preview I panicked when I discovered NewFire crashed on startup in the new OS. I emailed David about it and in less than a week he released a new Leopard compatible version.)

Inquisitor is a plug-in for Safari (and Camino as I understand it) that provides live results-as-you-type in the search bar. It's like Google Suggest on crack. I used it back when it was still in beta, and it has several new features since then. Another highly recommended app.

These apps are part of why I like the Apple platform so much. High-quality shareware apps that fill a niche, are well maintained, and have a fantastic UI to boot.
