Revolution! is a monthly rock n roll dance party in The South Bronx/Mott Haven held in the Bruckner Bar.

The gist: Bands. Bar. Dancing. Art. Bronx.

Doors open at 10pm

After the success of the 5th annual Afro-punk Festival in July, we teamed up with IMEEM.COM, ROCK BOX, FRANK 151 & NOKIA to bring you "8 DAZE A WEEKEND" an official Afro-punk/ CMJ event. Afro-Punk has established itself as a recognized platform celebrating the best and brightest in the alternative black music scene. Last years performances by Spank Rock, Earl Greyhound, Noisettes, The Apes, Yo Majesty, Santo Gold at IRVING PLAZA was one of if not the best show at CMJ. We plan to follow on in the tradition of bringing the best and most diverse that black music has to offer to CMJ in 2008.

Afro-Punk Film & Music Festival in Brooklyn! It's FREE!!!

About Afro-Punk:

In 2005, the very first annual Afro-Punk Festival debuted to wildly enthusiastic crowds at the iconic Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).The festival celebrated and unified the cultural cornerstones of Afro-Punk: music, film, and most importantly, the fiercely independent and influential individuals that are the lifeblood of the AP community. The festival has become a highlight every summer since.

This summer Afro-Punk, BAMcinematek and Toyota will present the 4th annual Afro-Punk Festival, taking place July 4th -July 13th, 2008 in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. The festival is the definitive destination for the global Afro-Punk community and audiences yearning to experience true AP culture. Last year 30,000 people attended the festvial, and this year is expected to be even bigger, featuring 40 bands, 15 films being screened, a visual art exhibit and a skate park featuring 30 pro BMX riders and 15 Pro skaters from around the country.

Millsted will be performing and skating at the Festival launch party on July 5th @ 6pm with these great acts:

Free NYC, via Harlem Outdoor Show!

If you guys live in the NYC area, you should stop by and see our performance.

We will be performing in this year's URB ALT Festival in which the opening day will be at The Harlem Stage Gatehouse (Outdoors).

Harlem Stage is located on 150 Convent Avenue (135th St and Convent nearby City College).

The event will begin at Noon sharp and run till 7pm. Along with the interesting artists that will be performing that afternoon, it was announce that there will be a good amount of goodies for grabs for free, which I heard was beverages, food. Here's a press release of the URB ALT Festival 2008:

The FREE June 21st concert outdoors at the Harlem Stage Gatehouse features the avant-garde bass mastery of Melvin Gibbs (Rollins Band, Harriet Tubman); the soulful alternative hip hop/funk of Atlantan Stacy Epps; the internet "Chocolate Rain" ubiquity of Tay Zonday; the classic rock bruised by electric jazz of Freedom Rockstars; the ambient downbeat funk of the electronic artist Amanda Ray; cosmic jazz vocal stylings of Los Angelino, ; the funky blues rock of Devi; the folk/soul of honey voiced crooner Kendal; the Latin rock/punk experimentalism of Millsted; the ill bent saxophone and electric compositions of Micah Gaugh; and the futuristic big band exploratory missions of the MuthaWit Orchestra (URB ALT Festival house band). All artists will be performing their original material as well as paying homage to the work of Sun Ra.

URB ALT founder Boston Fielder says "Sun Ra is a beacon for creators of all mediums who want to explore the connection between the spirit, entertainment and commerce. The Sun Ra Arkestra was/is a functioning politico-economic-social system that I was exposed to early in life as my cousin was a mainstay drummer for the group. It’s an honor to present some of Sun Ra’s compositions to our audience.

URB ALT Festival 2008 continues Friday 6/27 and Saturday 6/28 at BAMcafe.
