The vid's actor RPS and not really my thing, but I love the way she uses televisions, ipod,other forms of media to signify the different identity layers of celebrities... It's technically well done and plays interestingly with levels of viewership and distancing and the role of fans on some level, I think...it's everything I love theoretically about RPS...

I feel like there's no end to the learning curve. I just looked around the AMV vids that are on imeem (much faster and easier than d'loading them), and I realize I have absolutely no sense of aesthetics. Like, I cannot even tell if the source texts are good or not, and whereas in Live Action vids I can often see where manipulations took place, I have no idea in amv what was there and what the vidder added.

Case in point: http://absolutedestiny.imeem.com/video/DtPMY3pL/amv_multi_ddr_virtuaanime/ I was stunned when I watched this vid, and yet I have no idea how to compare it, where to even start describing it. And absolutedestiny's wonderful in depth notes make this even clearer. I know i'm not actually planning on doing much with AMV, but I'd like to at least get a minimal sense for it!
