ShaVonne Jackson

When you think of songs with beautiful melodies, and violin strings that take you so high you soar away, more than likely you'll think of ShaVonne Jackson.

A true musical talent whose gift emerged, when she was a young girl growing up in church. At the tender age of eight, she penned her first song, and was inspired from that moment on.

A native of North Little Rock, Arkansas. She comes from a family of singers and musicians, and gospel music is where it all started for this singer/songwriter/producer/arranger.

She credits singers, Stacy Lattisaw, Minnie Riperton, Teena Marie, Deniece Williams, Gloria Estefan, Donna Summer, Mariah Carey, Lisa Lisa, Angela Bofill, Selena, The O'Jays, Barry White, Michael Jackson, Prince and Donny Hathaway, as musical influences, and that's not even a fraction of the many artists that have inspired her.

"They have a way with singing a song, that makes you feel everything they're singing about. I also was inspired by, Sheila E. I use to try and rock the drums like her, she's an amazing percussionist"!

Her early years not only included singing, and songwriting, but dancing as well. Nicknamed, "Lockergirl" because of her love for locking, the dance that Don Campbellock created, and The Original Lockers took to another level", in the early 1970's on Soul Train, and all over the world. In school, ShaVonne performed in many talent shows, so many that by age twelve, she was a veteran. Performing many hits made famous by Janet Jackson, Madonna, and Mariah Carey.

After high school, she set her sights on Los Angeles, a dream of hers since the age of eight. "I wanted to pursue my dream of getting a record deal, and recording professionally, and Arkansas wasn't an entertainment based state". Unfortunately, the timing wasn't right for that journey. "I was very disappointed, when I wasn't able to make my transition to L.A. But I knew timing was everything, and to keep the faith. So I held tight to the faith, that had delivered me so many times before". Sometime later, ShaVonne was sent on her musical journey to L.A.

Her first year there, she says was really rough. "I was in a new space and time. L.A. is a world of it's own, but I weathered the storm, and soon began performing in various shows, and networking." One of the shows she performed in, had a representative from a major label there, who discussed interest in her. But unfortunately, no relationship was built between she and the label. Around that same period, production on a few singles, "Make Me Love You", "Pretty Lies", and the Barry White (the king of strings) inspired, "If I Never Believed", were being produced. "Writing and Producing those songs, was a memorable experience for me. I was finally doing what I sought out to do for so long. I'm very proud of those songs, they're my first babies".

ShaVonne is currently in the studio working on her forthcoming album.
